Installation Guide

Tools Needed:

  • Refrigeration manifold gauge set
  • Vacuum pump
  • Leak detector
  • Torque wrenches
  • Multimeter
  • Tube bender and cutter
  • Insulation materials

Step-by-Step Installation

  1. Site Preparation: Select appropriate location with proper clearances, level concrete pad, and adequate structural support.
  2. Uncrating & Inspection: Remove all shipping materials, inspect for damage, and verify all components are present.
  3. Refrigerant Line Installation: Install properly sized copper lines with correct insulation. Ensure lines are clean, dry, and properly supported.
  4. Electrical Connections: Connect to appropriate power supply following local electrical codes. Install disconnect switch within sight of unit.
  5. Condensate Drain Installation: Install proper drainage system with trap and cleanout access. Ensure proper slope for drainage.
  6. Evaporator Coil Installation: Install indoor coil in air handler or furnace, ensuring proper airflow and access for service.
  7. System Evacuation: Evacuate system to 500 microns or less to remove moisture and non-condensables.
  8. Refrigerant Charging: Charge system with correct refrigerant type and amount according to manufacturer specifications.
  9. System Startup: Start system, check all operating parameters, and verify proper operation.
Warning: Installation must be performed by licensed HVAC technicians. Proper refrigerant handling certification required.

Troubleshooting

Problem Possible Cause Solution
Unit not cooling/heating Power issue, thermostat setting, refrigerant charge Check power supply, verify thermostat settings, check refrigerant charge
Poor airflow Dirty filter, blocked vents, blower issues Replace filter, clear obstructions, check blower operation
Refrigerant leaks Fittings, coils, or line set damage Perform leak test, repair leaks, evacuate and recharge system
Compressor not starting Electrical issues, capacitor failure, overload protection Check voltage, test capacitor, verify overload protection
Ice formation on coils Low airflow, low refrigerant, defrost issues Check airflow, verify refrigerant charge, test defrost system
Unusual noises Loose components, fan issues, compressor problems Tighten components, check fan balance, inspect compressor
High energy consumption Dirty coils, incorrect charge, airflow issues Clean coils, verify refrigerant charge, check ductwork
