Installation Guide

Tools Needed:

  • Refrigeration gauge set
  • Vacuum pump
  • Torque wrench
  • Tube bender and cutter
  • Multimeter
  • Level
  • Power drill

Step-by-Step Installation

  1. Select Location: Choose a solid, level pad location with adequate clearance (minimum 24 inches on all sides) and proper drainage.
  2. Prepare Electrical: Ensure proper electrical service is available (230V, 60Hz) with appropriate circuit breaker and disconnect switch.
  3. Install Condenser Unit: Place condenser on level pad, secure with appropriate fasteners, and ensure proper vibration isolation.
  4. Connect Refrigerant Lines: Install properly sized copper lines with insulation on suction line. Purge with nitrogen while brazing.
  5. Connect Electrical: Connect power wiring to disconnect switch and control wiring between indoor and outdoor units.
  6. Evacuate System: Perform deep vacuum to 500 microns or less to remove moisture and non-condensables.
  7. Charge System: Add correct refrigerant charge according to manufacturer specifications and line length.
  8. Test Operation: Start system, check pressures, temperatures, and verify proper cooling operation.
Warning: Installation must be performed by a licensed HVAC technician. Improper installation can cause equipment damage, personal injury, and void warranty.

Key Features

Copeland Scroll Compressor

High-efficiency scroll compressor provides reliable, quiet operation with fewer moving parts than traditional piston compressors, resulting in longer lifespan.

Two-Stage Cooling

Operates at lower capacity (67%) most of the time for better humidity control and energy savings, only using full capacity on hottest days.

Sound Reduction System

Advanced sound insulation and compressor blanket significantly reduce operating noise for quieter outdoor operation.

Corrosion Protection

WeatherGuard™ protection with powder-coated steel cabinet and louver coil guard resists corrosion from harsh weather conditions.

Smart Coil Technology

Enhanced surface area and tube design improves heat transfer efficiency for better cooling performance with less energy consumption.

ComfortNet™ Compatible

Works with Goodman's communicating thermostat system for precise temperature control, diagnostics, and energy monitoring.

Two-Stage Operation Explained

Low Stage Operation

67% capacity for mild days, provides consistent temperature, better humidity removal, and quieter operation

High Stage Operation

100% capacity for extreme heat conditions, quickly recovers temperature after setbacks or on hottest days

Automatic Staging

System automatically selects appropriate stage based on cooling demand and outdoor temperature

Enhanced Dehumidification

Low stage runs longer cycles, removing more moisture from indoor air for improved comfort

Energy Savings

Low stage operation uses significantly less energy while maintaining comfort during moderate conditions

Extended Equipment Life

Reduced cycling and lower operating pressures extend compressor and system component life

Troubleshooting

Problem Possible Cause Solution
Unit not cooling Power loss, thermostat issue, refrigerant leak Check circuit breaker, verify thermostat settings, call for service
Insufficient cooling Dirty filters, low refrigerant, dirty coils Clean/replace filters, check coil cleanliness, call for service
Unit cycles on/off frequently Dirty filter, oversized unit, thermostat location Clean filter, check thermostat placement, verify proper sizing
Ice on refrigerant lines Low airflow, low refrigerant charge Check filters and blower, call for service
Unusual noises Loose parts, debris in fan, failing motor Turn off unit, check for debris, call for service
Water leakage indoors Clogged drain line, improper slope Clear drain line, ensure proper drainage slope

Common Error Codes

  • E1: Room temperature sensor failure - Check sensor connection
  • E2: Coil temperature sensor failure - Check sensor connection
  • E3: High pressure fault - Check for restricted airflow or overcharge
  • E4: Low pressure fault - Check for refrigerant leak or restriction
  • E5: Compressor overload - Check voltage and compressor windings
  • E6: Communication error - Check wiring between indoor and outdoor units
  • E7: Fan motor fault - Check fan motor and capacitor
