Installation Guide

Tools Needed:

  • Refrigeration manifold gauge set
  • Vacuum pump
  • Tubing cutter and bender
  • Torque wrench
  • Multimeter
  • Level
  • Screwdrivers and wrenches

Step-by-Step Installation

  1. Select Installation Location: Choose a level, stable outdoor location with adequate clearance (minimum 24 inches on all sides).
  2. Prepare Mounting Pad: Install a concrete pad or approved composite pad to support the condenser unit.
  3. Install Condenser Unit: Place the outdoor unit on the pad, ensuring it's level and secure.
  4. Connect Refrigerant Lines: Connect copper refrigerant lines between indoor and outdoor units using proper brazing techniques.
  5. Electrical Connections: Connect power supply wiring according to local electrical codes and unit specifications.
  6. Connect Control Wiring: Install low-voltage control wiring between thermostat, indoor unit, and outdoor unit.
  7. Evacuate and Charge System: Evacuate the system to remove moisture and air, then charge with specified refrigerant amount.
  8. System Startup: Start the system and verify proper operation, checking pressures, temperatures, and airflow.
Warning: Installation must be performed by a licensed HVAC technician. Improper installation can cause equipment damage, reduced efficiency, and void warranty.

Contains compressor, condenser coil, and fan to release heat from refrigerant

Indoor Evaporator Coil

Located in air handler or furnace, absorbs heat from indoor air

Refrigerant Lines

Copper tubing that circulates refrigerant between indoor and outdoor units

Thermostat

Control center that regulates temperature and system operation

Air Handler/Furnace

Circulates conditioned air through ductwork to living spaces

Condensate Drain System

Removes moisture collected during cooling process

Troubleshooting

Problem Possible Cause Solution
AC won't turn on Power loss, tripped breaker, thermostat issue Check circuit breaker, thermostat settings, and power supply
Insufficient cooling Dirty filter, low refrigerant, blocked condenser Clean/replace filter, check condenser clearance, call for service
System cycles on/off frequently Dirty filter, thermostat location, oversized unit Clean filter, relocate thermostat, consult HVAC professional
Unusual noises Loose parts, debris in fan, failing motor Turn off system and inspect for obstructions, call for service
Water leakage Clogged drain line, frozen coil, improper installation Clear drain line, check for ice on coil, call for service
Frozen evaporator coil Low airflow, low refrigerant, dirty filter Replace filter, check airflow, turn system off and call for service

Common Error Codes

  • E1/E2: Temperature sensor failure - Check/replace sensors
  • E3: Pressure switch error - Check refrigerant pressure
  • E4: Compressor overload - Check electrical connections
  • E5: Communication error - Check control wiring
  • E6: Fan motor error - Check fan motor and capacitor
  • E7: Defrost error - Check defrost components
  • LF: Low refrigerant - System needs charging (professional service required)
