Maintenance Procedures

Daily Maintenance

Check oil level, drain condensate from tank, inspect for leaks, check pressure readings, and ensure proper ventilation around unit.

Weekly Maintenance

Clean intake filters, check belt tension (if applicable), inspect hoses and connections, test safety valves, and clean cooling fins.

Monthly Maintenance

Change oil (if required), clean or replace air filter, check motor amperage, inspect electrical connections, and lubricate moving parts.

Quarterly Maintenance

Replace oil filter, check valve operation, inspect tank interior for corrosion, test pressure switch calibration, and check vibration mounts.

Annual Maintenance

Complete overhaul inspection, replace air/oil separator, check bearing wear, perform pressure test, and complete electrical safety check.

Oil Change Procedure

Use only Gardner Denver approved compressor oil. Drain when warm, replace filter, refill to proper level, and run to check for leaks.

Filter Replacement Schedule

Intake Air Filter

Replace every 3 months or 500 hours in normal conditions

Oil Filter

Replace every 6 months or 1000 hours of operation

Air/Oil Separator

Replace annually or when pressure differential exceeds 15 PSI

Oil

Change every 2000 hours or annually, whichever comes first

Safety Valve

Test monthly, replace every 2 years or as required by code

Belts

Inspect monthly, replace when cracked or worn

Troubleshooting

Problem Possible Cause Solution
Compressor won't start Power issue, pressure switch fault, thermal overload Check power supply, reset overload, test pressure switch
Low pressure output Air leaks, worn valves, clogged filter Check for leaks, inspect valves, replace air filter
Excessive noise/vibration Loose mounting, worn bearings, misalignment Tighten mounts, check bearings, align motor/pump
Overheating Dirty cooling fins, low oil, restricted airflow Clean cooling system, check oil level, ensure ventilation
Oil in air lines Failed separator, overfilled oil, worn rings Replace separator, adjust oil level, inspect rings
Excessive cycling Air leaks, faulty pressure switch, small receiver Find and fix leaks, adjust or replace switch

Error Codes & Indicators

  • OL (Overload): Motor overload - Check amp draw and ventilation
  • HT (High Temp): High temperature - Clean cooler, check oil level
  • LP (Low Pressure): Low pressure - Check for leaks, inspect pump
  • HP (High Pressure): High pressure - Check pressure switch, relief valve
  • LO (Low Oil): Low oil pressure - Check oil level and pump
  • SF (Safety Fault): Safety device activated - Check all safety switches
