Installation Guide

Tools Needed:

  • Refrigeration manifold gauge set
  • Vacuum pump
  • Tubing cutter and bender
  • Torque wrench
  • Multimeter
  • Leak detector
  • Level

Step-by-Step Installation

  1. Select Installation Location: Choose a solid, level pad for the outdoor unit with proper clearance (minimum 24" on all sides).
  2. Install Condenser Pad: Place a level concrete pad or approved mounting system at the selected location.
  3. Mount Outdoor Unit: Secure the condenser unit to the pad using vibration isolators and appropriate fasteners.
  4. Install Refrigerant Lines: Run properly insulated copper lines between indoor and outdoor units, maintaining proper slope.
  5. Electrical Connections: Connect high-voltage power to the disconnect box and low-voltage wiring to the thermostat.
  6. Evacuate and Charge System: Evacuate the system to 500 microns, then charge with specified refrigerant type and amount.
  7. System Startup: Start the system and verify proper operation, checking pressures, temperatures, and airflow.
Warning: Installation must be performed by a licensed HVAC technician in accordance with all local codes and regulations. Improper installation may void warranty.

Troubleshooting

Problem Possible Cause Solution
Unit not cooling Power issue, thermostat setting, refrigerant charge Check circuit breaker, verify thermostat settings, check refrigerant levels
Poor cooling performance Dirty filters, low airflow, refrigerant issues Clean/replace filters, check blower operation, verify refrigerant charge
Unit cycles on/off frequently Dirty condenser, refrigerant overcharge, airflow restriction Clean condenser coil, check refrigerant charge, verify proper airflow
Unusual noises Loose parts, debris in fan, compressor issues Check for loose panels, clear debris from fan, listen for compressor sounds
Ice formation on lines Low refrigerant, restricted airflow, dirty filters Check refrigerant charge, verify indoor airflow, clean/replace filters
Water leakage Clogged drain line, improper slope, pump failure Clear drain line, ensure proper slope, check condensate pump

Error Codes & Diagnostics

  • LED Flash Pattern 1: Pressure switch open - Check refrigerant charge and pressures
  • LED Flash Pattern 2: Pressure switch closed - Check for overcharge or restriction
  • LED Flash Pattern 3: Loss of charge - Check for leaks and refrigerant level
  • LED Flash Pattern 4: Low voltage - Check power supply and connections
  • LED Flash Pattern 5: High pressure lockout - Clean condenser, check fan operation
  • LED Flash Pattern 6: Low pressure lockout - Check refrigerant charge, filter drier
