Installation Guide

Tools Needed:

  • Manifold gauge set
  • Vacuum pump
  • Tubing cutter
  • Torch kit with nitrogen regulator
  • Multimeter
  • Level
  • Screwdrivers (flat and Phillips)

Step-by-Step Installation

  1. Choose Installation Location: Select a location with proper clearance for service access and airflow on a solid, level surface.
  2. Remove Shipping Materials: Remove all shipping bolts, packaging materials, and protective covers from both indoor and outdoor units.
  3. Install Refrigerant Lines: Connect refrigerant lines between indoor and outdoor units using proper brazing techniques with nitrogen purge.
  4. Electrical Connections: Connect to properly sized circuit breakers according to local electrical codes. Furnace requires 120V, AC unit requires 240V.
  5. Ductwork Connection: Connect supply and return ducts to furnace using proper sealing techniques to prevent air leakage.
  6. Condensate Drain Installation: Install condensate drain lines with proper slope and trap for both furnace and air conditioner.
  7. System Startup: Evacuate system to 500 microns, charge with refrigerant, and perform complete system check.
Warning: HVAC installation must be performed by licensed, qualified technicians to ensure safety, proper operation, and maintain warranty coverage.

Key Features

Two-Stage Gas Valve

Provides more precise temperature control and improved efficiency by operating at lower capacity most of the time, only using full capacity when needed.

Variable Speed Blower Motor

ECM motor adjusts speed to match system requirements, providing consistent airflow, better humidity control, and reduced energy consumption.

Scroll Compressor Technology

Outdoor unit features durable scroll compressor for quiet, efficient operation with fewer moving parts and better reliability than piston compressors.

SmartCoil Technology

Enhanced heat transfer surfaces on both indoor and outdoor coils improve efficiency and provide more consistent cooling performance.

ComfortNet Compatible

Works with Goodman's ComfortNet communicating system for advanced diagnostics, remote monitoring, and optimal system performance.

Sound Reduction Package

Insulated cabinet, compressor sound blanket, and specially designed fan reduce operational noise for quieter performance.

System Operation Modes

Heating Mode

Two-stage heating operation for consistent comfort and energy savings

Cooling Mode

High-efficiency cooling with dehumidification capability

Fan Only Mode

Continuous or intermittent fan operation for air circulation

Auto Mode

Automatic switching between heating and cooling based on thermostat setting

Emergency Heat

Backup heating mode for extreme cold conditions

Dehumidify Mode

Enhanced moisture removal during cooling operation

Troubleshooting

Problem Possible Cause Solution
System won't start Power issue, thermostat setting, safety switch Check circuit breakers, thermostat settings, door safety switch
Insufficient heating/cooling Dirty filter, low refrigerant, duct leaks Replace filter, check refrigerant charge, inspect ductwork
Frequent cycling Dirty coils, oversized unit, thermostat location Clean coils, verify proper sizing, relocate thermostat
Unusual noises Loose parts, duct vibration, blower issues Tighten all fasteners, secure ductwork, inspect blower assembly
High energy bills Dirty filter, duct leaks, improper charge Replace filter regularly, seal duct leaks, verify refrigerant charge
Ice on coils Low airflow, low refrigerant, dirty coils Check filter and blower, verify refrigerant charge, clean coils

Error Codes

  • Code 1: Ignition failure - Check gas supply and igniter
  • Code 2: Pressure switch stuck open - Check venting and switch
  • Code 3: Pressure switch stuck closed - Check switch and tubing
  • Code 4: Primary limit switch open - Check airflow and filter
  • Code 5: Rollout switch open - Check burners and heat exchanger
  • Code 6: Inducer motor failure - Check motor and capacitor
  • Code 7: Blower motor failure - Check motor and capacitor
