Troubleshooting

Problem Possible Cause Solution
Compressor won't start Power issue, pressure switch fault, thermal overload Check power supply, reset overload switch, verify pressure switch operation
Low air pressure Air leaks, worn piston rings, clogged intake filter Check for leaks, inspect piston rings, clean or replace air filter
Excessive noise Loose components, worn bearings, piston slap Tighten all fasteners, check bearings, inspect connecting rods
Oil in air lines Worn piston rings, overfilled oil, faulty air/oil separator Check oil level, inspect rings, replace separator if needed
Motor overheating Dirty cooling fins, low voltage, excessive cycling Clean cooling fins, check voltage, adjust pressure settings
Slow recovery time Worn valves, leaking check valve, undersized piping Inspect valves, check for leaks, verify pipe sizing

Maintenance Schedule

  • Daily: Drain moisture from tank, check oil level
  • Weekly: Inspect for leaks, check belt tension
  • Monthly: Clean intake filter, check safety valve
  • Every 3 Months: Change oil, inspect valves
  • Annually: Complete system inspection, replace air filter
  • Every 2 Years: Replace safety valve, inspect tank interior
