Installation Guide

Tools Needed:

  • Adjustable wrench set
  • Pipe wrench
  • Screwdrivers (flat and Phillips)
  • Teflon tape
  • Level
  • Air hose fittings

Step-by-Step Installation

  1. Choose Installation Location: Select a clean, dry, well-ventilated area with sufficient clearance for maintenance and operation.
  2. Prepare the Foundation: Place compressor on a solid, level concrete floor capable of supporting 300+ pounds.
  3. Electrical Connection: Connect to a dedicated 240V, 60Hz, 15A circuit with proper grounding. Consult local electrical codes.
  4. Air System Setup: Install air filter on intake, connect air lines using Teflon tape on all threaded connections.
  5. Drain Installation: Connect drain line to tank drain valve and route to appropriate drainage location.
  6. Pressure Settings: Set pressure switch cut-in at 100 PSI and cut-out at 135 PSI for optimal performance.
  7. Initial Startup: Fill with compressor oil to proper level, open tank drain briefly, then start compressor for initial break-in.
Warning: Installation must comply with all local codes and regulations. Wear safety glasses during installation and operation.

Troubleshooting

Problem Possible Cause Solution
Compressor won't start Power issue, pressure switch fault, thermal overload tripped Check power supply, reset pressure switch, allow motor to cool
Low pressure output Leaking fittings, worn pump rings, clogged air filter Check for leaks with soap solution, inspect pump, clean/replace filter
Excessive noise/vibration Loose mounting bolts, worn motor bearings, unbalanced pulley Tighten all bolts, check bearings, inspect pulley alignment
Oil in air lines Overfilled oil, worn piston rings, faulty separator Check oil level, inspect pump, replace separator element
Frequent cycling Air leaks, faulty check valve, worn pressure switch Locate and repair leaks, replace check valve, adjust pressure switch
Motor overheating Low voltage, restricted ventilation, dirty cooling fins Check voltage, ensure proper clearance, clean motor fins

Maintenance Codes & Indicators

  • Red Oil Light: Low oil level - Shut down immediately and add oil
  • Yellow Service Light: Regular maintenance due - Check filter and oil
  • Continuous Running: Air leak detected - Check system for leaks
  • Failure to Build Pressure: Pump issue - Check valves and rings
  • Excessive Moisture: Drain issue - Check automatic drain function
  • Pressure Fluctuation: Regulator problem - Inspect pressure regulator
