Tools Needed:

  • Refrigeration manifold gauge set
  • Vacuum pump
  • Tubing cutter and bender
  • Torque wrench set
  • Multimeter
  • Level
  • Drill with various bits
  • Insulation tape and sealant

Step-by-Step Installation

  1. Site Selection: Choose appropriate locations for indoor and outdoor units considering airflow, drainage, and accessibility for maintenance.
  2. Mounting Preparation: Install mounting brackets for indoor unit and prepare concrete pad or wall brackets for outdoor unit.
  3. Refrigerant Line Installation: Run copper refrigerant lines between indoor and outdoor units, ensuring proper insulation and protection.
  4. Electrical Connections: Connect power supply wiring according to local electrical codes and manufacturer specifications.
  5. Drainage System: Install condensate drain line with proper slope and trap to ensure effective water removal.
  6. Vacuum and Charge: Evacuate system using vacuum pump, then charge with specified refrigerant type and quantity.
  7. System Testing: Test all functions including cooling, heating (if applicable), fan speeds, and thermostat operation.
  8. Final Inspection: Verify all connections, check for leaks, and ensure proper airflow and drainage.
Warning: HVAC installation must be performed by licensed and certified technicians only. Improper installation can cause equipment damage, reduced efficiency, and safety hazards.

Troubleshooting

Problem Possible Cause Solution
Unit not turning on Power supply issue, circuit breaker tripped, remote control batteries dead Check power connection, reset circuit breaker, replace remote batteries
Poor cooling/heating performance Dirty filters, low refrigerant, blocked airflow, incorrect thermostat setting Clean filters, check refrigerant charge, clear obstructions, verify settings
Water leakage from indoor unit Clogged drain line, improper installation slope, damaged drain pan Clear drain line, ensure proper slope, inspect and replace drain pan if needed
Unusual noises during operation Loose parts, debris in fan, compressor issues, vibration from mounting Tighten all fasteners, clean fan blades, check compressor, secure mounting
Ice formation on coils Low refrigerant, dirty filters, restricted airflow, faulty defrost system Check refrigerant level, clean filters, ensure proper airflow, test defrost cycle
Frequent cycling on/off Oversized unit, thermostat location, dirty condenser, electrical issues Verify unit sizing, relocate thermostat, clean outdoor unit, check electrical connections

Error Codes
