R454B Refrigerant System

Installation Guide

Tools Needed:

  • Refrigerant manifold gauge set
  • Vacuum pump
  • Torque wrench
  • Flaring tool
  • Leak detector
  • Multimeter
  • Pipe cutter

Step-by-Step Installation

  1. Site Preparation: Select a location with proper clearance (minimum 30cm from walls), solid mounting surface, and adequate drainage.
  2. Mounting Unit: Securely mount indoor and outdoor units using appropriate brackets and hardware according to local building codes.
  3. Refrigerant Piping: Connect copper pipes between indoor and outdoor units using proper flaring techniques. Ensure all connections are airtight.
  4. Electrical Connection: Connect to dedicated circuit with proper grounding. Follow local electrical codes and manufacturer specifications.
  5. Drainage System: Install drain pipe with proper slope (minimum 1/100 gradient) to ensure condensate water flows away from unit.
  6. Vacuum Process: Evacuate system to 500 microns or less for minimum 15 minutes to remove moisture and non-condensables.
  7. R454B Charging: Charge system with R454B refrigerant according to manufacturer's specified weight. Do not mix with other refrigerants.
  8. System Testing: Test for leaks, verify proper operation, and check all safety controls and temperature settings.
Warning: R454B refrigerant installation must be performed by EPA-certified technicians only. Improper handling can cause system damage and void warranty.

Troubleshooting

Problem Possible Cause Solution
Unit not starting Power failure, circuit breaker tripped, remote control batteries dead Check power supply, reset circuit breaker, replace remote batteries
Poor cooling/heating Dirty filters, low refrigerant, blocked airflow Clean filters, check refrigerant charge, clear obstructions
Water leakage Clogged drain pipe, improper installation slope Clear drain pipe, ensure proper drainage slope
Unusual noises Loose parts, debris in fan, vibration Tighten mounting hardware, clear debris, check installation
Frozen coils Dirty filters, low airflow, low refrigerant Clean filters, check fan operation, verify refrigerant charge
Error codes displayed Sensor failure, communication error, system fault Refer to error code chart, check connections, contact service

Error Codes

  • E1: Room temperature sensor failure - Check sensor connection
  • E2: Pipe temperature sensor failure - Check sensor connection
  • E3: Communication error - Check wiring between units
  • E4: High pressure protection - Check condenser, clean if dirty
  • E5: Low pressure protection - Check for refrigerant leak
  • E6: Compressor overload - Check power supply, wait 3 minutes
  • E7: Fan motor failure - Check fan motor and connections
  • E8: Water full protection - Check drain system
