User Manual & Installation Guide

Industrial Duty Reciprocating Compressor

Installation Guide

Tools Needed:

  • Adjustable wrench set
  • Torque wrench
  • Screwdrivers (flat and Phillips)
  • Pipe thread sealant
  • Level
  • Air pressure gauge

Step-by-Step Installation

  1. Choose Installation Location: Select a clean, dry, well-ventilated area with adequate space for maintenance access and proper airflow.
  2. Foundation Preparation: Place compressor on a solid, level concrete floor or vibration isolation pads to minimize noise transmission.
  3. Electrical Connection: Connect to appropriate power supply (see specifications). All wiring must comply with local electrical codes.
  4. Air System Connection: Install proper air lines using threaded connections with sealant. Include shut-off valve and drain valve.
  5. Oil Check: Verify oil level is at proper mark on sight glass before initial startup.
  6. Pressure Relief Valve: Ensure pressure relief valve is properly installed and functional.
  7. Initial Startup: Run compressor unloaded for 30 minutes to break in components before applying full load.
Warning: Installation must be performed by qualified personnel. Ensure proper ventilation to prevent carbon monoxide buildup from gasoline engines (if applicable).

Key Features

QR-25 Two-Stage Pump

Quincy's industrial-grade two-stage pump provides higher efficiency and cooler operation with cast iron construction for maximum durability and extended service life.

Pressure Lubrication System

Full pressure lubrication ensures all moving components receive proper oiling, reducing wear and extending pump life even under continuous duty cycles.

ASME Coded Air Tank

80-gallon ASME coded and stamped tank meets highest safety standards with corrosion-resistant interior coating and lifetime warranty.

IntelliSys Controller

Microprocessor-based control system monitors operating conditions, provides diagnostic information, and optimizes performance while protecting against faults.

Low RPM Operation

Operating at only 870 RPM reduces wear, heat buildup, and maintenance requirements while increasing efficiency and extending component life.

Dual Voltage Capability

Configurable for multiple voltage applications with easy conversion between single-phase and three-phase power options.

Two-Stage Compression Explained

First Stage Compression

Air is initially compressed to intermediate pressure in larger low-pressure cylinder

Intercooling

Compressed air passes through intercooler to reduce temperature before second stage

Second Stage Compression

Cooled air undergoes final compression in smaller high-pressure cylinder

Aftercooling

Final compressed air is cooled to condense moisture before entering tank

Pressure Regulation

Precise pressure control maintains consistent output for tools and equipment

Automatic Shut-off

System automatically stops at set pressure and restarts when pressure drops

Troubleshooting

Problem Possible Cause Solution
Compressor won't start Power issue, pressure switch fault, thermal overload Check power supply, reset overload, test pressure switch
Low pressure output Worn valves, intake filter clogged, belt slippage Inspect valves, clean/replace filter, check belt tension
Excessive noise/vibration Loose components, worn bearings, improper mounting Tighten all fasteners, check bearings, ensure proper foundation
Overheating Dirty cooling fins, low oil, restricted airflow Clean cooling surfaces, check oil level, ensure ventilation
Oil in discharge air Worn piston rings, overfilled oil, wrong oil type Check rings, adjust oil level, use recommended oil
Excessive cycle time Air leaks, worn pump, undersized piping Check for leaks, test pump efficiency, verify pipe sizing

Error Codes (IntelliSys Controller)

  • E-01: High temperature shutdown - Check cooling system and ventilation
  • E-02: Low oil pressure - Check oil level and pump
  • E-03: Motor overload - Reduce load, check voltage
  • E-04: Pressure switch fault - Test switch operation
  • E-05: Phase loss (3-phase models) - Check all phases
  • E-06: Communication error - Check controller connections
