Installation Guide
Tools Needed:
- Adjustable wrench set
- Torque wrench
- Screwdrivers (flat and Phillips)
- Pipe thread sealant
- Level
- Air pressure gauge
Step-by-Step Installation
- Choose Installation Location: Select a clean, dry, well-ventilated area with sufficient clearance for maintenance access and proper airflow.
- Foundation Preparation: Ensure a solid, level concrete foundation capable of supporting the compressor's weight and vibration.
- Uncrating and Positioning: Remove all shipping materials and position the compressor using proper lifting equipment.
- Electrical Connection: Connect to appropriate power supply following local electrical codes. QT Series: 230V/460V 3-phase, QP Series: 115V/230V single-phase.
- Air System Connection: Install air lines using properly sized piping with downward slope from compressor to prevent moisture accumulation.
- Oil Level Check: Verify proper oil level in sight glass before initial startup.
- Initial Startup: Open air receiver drain valve, start compressor, and check for proper operation and pressure buildup.
- System Check: Monitor for leaks, unusual noises, and verify pressure switch operation.

Key Features
Quincy QR-25 Series Pump
Industry-leading two-stage pump design with force-feed lubrication system, providing superior durability and efficiency with minimal maintenance requirements.
Pressure Lubrication System
Positive pressure lubrication ensures all moving components receive proper oil flow, reducing wear and extending component life even under continuous duty cycles.
ASME Coded Tanks
All Quincy tanks meet or exceed ASME pressure vessel standards, featuring rust-resistant interiors and safety valves for maximum reliability and safety.
Thermal Protection System
Built-in thermal overload protection prevents motor damage from overheating, with automatic reset function for uninterrupted operation.
Low RPM Operation
Slow-running pump design (870 RPM) reduces wear, minimizes heat generation, and extends service intervals while maintaining high efficiency.
Easy Maintenance Access
Designed with service in mind, featuring removable valve plates, accessible drain valves, and clear sight glasses for easy maintenance and inspection.
Pump Technology Explained
Two-Stage Compression
Air is compressed in two steps for higher efficiency and lower operating temperatures
Intercooling System
Between-stage cooling reduces air temperature and moisture content
Force-Feed Lubrication
Positive pressure delivers oil to all critical wear surfaces
Large Bearing Surfaces
Oversized bearings distribute loads evenly for extended life
Precision Machined Components
Computer-controlled machining ensures perfect fit and alignment
Replaceable Valve Plates
Easy valve service without complete pump disassembly
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Compressor won't start | Power issue, pressure switch fault, thermal overload tripped | Check power supply, verify pressure switch settings, reset thermal overload |
| Low pressure output | Worn rings, leaking valves, intake filter clogged | Check compression, inspect valves, clean or replace air filter |
| Excessive noise/vibration | Loose mounting, worn bearings, misaligned pulleys | Tighten mounting bolts, check bearings, align drive components |
| Overheating | Dirty cooling fins, low oil level, restricted airflow | Clean cooling surfaces, check oil level, ensure proper ventilation |
| Excessive oil consumption | Worn piston rings, leaking seals, overfilled oil | Check compression, inspect seals, verify proper oil level |
| Frequent cycling | Air leaks, faulty pressure switch, undersized tank | Check for leaks, adjust pressure switch, verify system requirements |
| Water in air lines | Faulty drain valve, inadequate aftercooling, high humidity | Check drain operation, inspect aftercooler, install air dryer |
Maintenance Codes & Intervals
- Daily: Check oil level, drain moisture from tank, inspect for leaks
- Weekly: Clean intake filter, check belt tension (QT series), verify safety valve operation
- Monthly: Check all fasteners, inspect hoses and connections, test pressure switch
- Quarterly: Change oil, clean cooling fins, inspect valves
- Annually: Replace air filter, check motor bearings, complete system inspection
- Every 2 Years: Replace safety valve, rebuild pump if needed
