Installation Guide

Tools Needed:

  • Adjustable wrench set
  • Level
  • Screwdrivers (flat and Phillips)
  • Pipe wrench
  • Tape measure
  • Pressure gauge

Step-by-Step Installation

  1. Choose Installation Location: Select a clean, dry, well-ventilated area with sufficient clearance for maintenance access and proper airflow.
  2. Prepare Foundation: Ensure a solid, level concrete foundation that can support the compressor's weight and vibration.
  3. Uncrate and Position: Carefully remove all shipping materials and position the compressor on the prepared foundation.
  4. Electrical Connection: Connect to appropriate power supply (see specifications). All electrical work must comply with local codes.
  5. Air System Connection: Install proper air lines using recommended pipe size. Include shut-off valves and moisture traps.
  6. Check Oil Level: Verify proper oil level in the compressor crankcase before initial startup.
  7. Initial Startup: Perform initial startup following the break-in procedure outlined in the manual.
Warning: Installation must be performed by qualified personnel. Ensure proper ventilation to prevent carbon monoxide buildup from gasoline engines (if applicable).

The industry-leading QT pump features pressure lubrication, large cast iron construction, and low operating speed for extended life and reliable performance.

ASME Coded Tank

Heavy-duty 60-gallon ASME coded air tank with corrosion-resistant interior coating and safety valve for maximum durability and safety.

Pressure Lubrication System

Full pressure lubrication system ensures proper oil distribution to all critical components, reducing wear and extending compressor life.

Thermal Protection

Built-in thermal overload protection prevents motor damage from overheating during extended operation or high ambient temperatures.

Belt Drive System

Heavy-duty belt drive system allows for optimal pump speed and easy maintenance with standard V-belts.

Low RPM Operation

Operating at only 900 RPM reduces wear, heat generation, and maintenance requirements while increasing overall efficiency.

Control System Features

Pressure Switch

Automatic pressure switch with adjustable cut-in/cut-out settings for precise pressure control

Magnetic Starter

Heavy-duty magnetic starter with overload protection for reliable motor starting and protection

Check Valve

Automatic tank check valve prevents backflow and allows for easy pump startup

Pressure Gauge

Dual gauges display tank pressure and regulated output pressure for precise control

Safety Valve

ASME certified safety valve provides protection against over-pressurization

Drain Valve

Easy-access tank drain valve for regular moisture removal and maintenance

Troubleshooting

Problem Possible Cause Solution
Compressor won't start Power issue, pressure switch setting, thermal overload Check power supply, adjust pressure switch, reset thermal overload
Low air pressure output Air leaks, worn valves, belt slippage Check for leaks, inspect valves, adjust belt tension
Excessive noise/vibration Loose components, worn bearings, improper mounting Tighten all fasteners, check bearings, ensure proper foundation
Overheating Dirty cooling fins, low oil, restricted airflow Clean cooling surfaces, check oil level, ensure proper ventilation
Excessive moisture in air Faulty drain, high humidity, inadequate aftercooling Check automatic drain, install additional air drying, ensure proper operation
Frequent cycling Air leaks, oversized tools, faulty check valve Repair leaks, match tools to compressor capacity, replace check valve

Error Indicators

  • Motor hums but won't start: Check voltage, capacitor, or mechanical binding
  • Oil in discharge air: Worn piston rings or overfilled oil
  • Knocking sound: Loose connecting rods or worn bearings
  • High amp draw: Tight pump, low voltage, or mechanical issues
  • Pressure switch won't cut out: Faulty switch or leaking check valve
  • Slow pressure buildup: Worn valves, leaking gaskets, or belt slippage
