Installation Guide

Tools Needed:

  • Adjustable wrench set
  • Pressure gauge
  • Screwdrivers (flat and Phillips)
  • Pipe thread sealant
  • Level
  • Air hose fittings

Step-by-Step Installation

  1. Choose Installation Location: Select a clean, dry, well-ventilated area with adequate clearance for maintenance access.
  2. Prepare the Surface: Place on a solid, level concrete floor. Use vibration pads if installing on wood surfaces.
  3. Electrical Connection: Connect to appropriate power source (120V or 240V depending on model). Ensure proper grounding.
  4. Air System Setup: Install air filter/regulator, connect air hose using appropriate fittings with thread sealant.
  5. Check Oil Level: For oil-lubricated models, check and fill with proper compressor oil to recommended level.
  6. Pressure Settings: Set cut-in and cut-out pressure according to manufacturer specifications.
  7. Initial Test Run: Run compressor without load for 10 minutes to break in, then check for leaks and proper operation.
Warning: Always install pressure relief valve and ensure proper ventilation. Keep away from flammable materials.

Key Features

ASME Certified Tanks

All Craftsman air compressor tanks are ASME certified for safety and durability, with corrosion-resistant interiors for long service life.

Cast Iron Construction

Heavy-duty cast iron pumps and cylinders provide superior heat dissipation, longer life, and quieter operation compared to aluminum pumps.

Low Amp Draw Motors

Specially designed motors provide high starting torque with low amp draw, preventing circuit breaker trips and allowing operation on standard circuits.

Thermal Overload Protection

Built-in thermal overload protection automatically shuts off the motor if it overheats, preventing damage and ensuring safety.

Oil-Free Options

Select models feature oil-free pumps that require no maintenance and are ideal for applications where oil contamination is a concern.

Quick Recovery Time

High-efficiency pumps provide quick tank recovery, maintaining consistent air pressure for continuous tool operation.

Application Guide

Finishing Tools

Spray guns, nailers (4-6 CFM at 90 PSI)

General Workshop

Impact wrenches, ratchets (4-8 CFM at 90 PSI)

Heavy Duty

Sanders, grinders (8-12 CFM at 90 PSI)

Industrial

Sandblasters, drills (12+ CFM at 90 PSI)

Automotive

Lifts, tire changers (5-10 CFM at 90 PSI)

HVAC

Cleaning, testing (3-7 CFM at 90 PSI)

Troubleshooting

Problem Possible Cause Solution
Compressor won't start Power issue, pressure switch, thermal overload Check power supply, reset overload, check pressure switch
Low pressure output Leaks, worn rings, intake filter clogged Check for leaks, replace rings, clean/replace air filter
Excessive noise/vibration Loose components, worn bearings, unbalanced pulley Tighten all fasteners, check bearings, balance pulley
Overheating Dirty fins, low oil, restricted ventilation Clean cooling fins, check oil level, improve ventilation
Oil in air lines Overfilled oil, worn piston rings Drain excess oil, replace piston rings
Slow tank fill Leaking check valve, worn valves, belt slippage Replace check valve, service pump valves, adjust belt tension

Maintenance Schedule

  • Daily: Drain moisture from tank, check oil level
  • Weekly: Check belt tension, inspect for leaks
  • Monthly: Clean air filter, check safety valve
  • Quarterly: Change oil (oil-lubricated models)
  • Annually: Replace air filter, inspect valves
  • As Needed: Check and tighten all fasteners
